Devon Norse MD appointed
September 2011

Ray Beale has been appointed Managing Director of the recently formed Devon Norse Ltd.
A Devonian, Ray has spent over 40 years in the public sector, initially working in health, in Devon and Cornwall. For the last 37years he has held various management and senior management positions within Devon County Council.
In 1988 Ray, a qualified chef, was appointed to head up the Local Authority’s Client catering team, moving on to oversee the delivery of all LA services, included Facilities Management services, to schools within the Devon County Council area.
In 2006 he became Head of Business Strategies with Children and Young Peoples Services. In this role Ray had responsibility for a wide ranging portfolio including Contracting and Commissioning, Customer Services, Health and Safety, emergency Planning, Business Continuity and overseeing the PFI contract and Strategic Lead for Cleaning and Catering.
When the Council undertook an options appraisal in 2010, Ray led the project to divest the cleaning and catering services, working with chief officers and Members to review the proposals that led to the formation of Devon Norse Ltd.
Speaking about his new role, Ray commented, “I am looking forward to applying my knowledge of working in the public sector and my understanding of the need to deliver high standards at an affordable price, to the new challenges, and benefits to the tax payers of Devon, that the commercial-edge arrangement with Norse Commercial Services will offer.”
Married with a grown up son, Ray has been a School Governor for over 20 years and enjoys gardening, photography and supporting Children Charities. |
