Norse MD presentation at CIPFA conference
December 2011

Norse Commercial Services MD Peter Hawes recently gave a presentation to the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, ‘Income Generation: Maximising the Potential’ conference.

Peter took as his subject ‘Setting up a Trading Company – the key elements of success’ in which he looked at the rationale behind the formation of Norse as a Public Sector owned trading organisation, and the undoubted benefits it has brought to both parent organisation Norfolk County Council and the many other Norse trading partners.

Cliff Dalton, Manager, CIPFA Performance Networks commented: ‘Peter delivered a very interesting and thought provoking session on options around delivering council services through external trading and partnership work – using a very successful model developed by Norse.”

“It prompted much debate with the event delegates, many of whom were genuinely interested in speaking further with Peter (after his session) on how such a model might fit in with their organisation. “

“Norse seems to be offering a genuine choice for authorities on how to deliver their services under the current transformation agenda. An option that appears to have the potential to deliver both an improvement in service provision as well as financial savings to the authority itself’.”
