Lace 'em up for the Prince's Trust
August 2011

This year a group of NCS employees are coming together to help raise £1 million for The Prince’s Trust.
Since 1976, the Trust has helped more than 650,000 young people overcome challenges such as abuse, depression, addiction and homelessness, with more than three in four moving into work, education or training.
Around one in five young people in the UK are not in work, education or training, with youth unemployment costing the UK economy £10 million a day in lost productivity, whilst youth crime costs £1 billion every year. The Prince’s Trust offers practical and financial support to the young people who need it most, but to continue this work they need to raise £40 million this year.
So, this year it is challenging teams of employees to come together to raise £1 million towards this to help change young lives. This corporate challenge will see teams of employees across the UK creating their own fundraising events, with Norse aiming to raise £20,000 over the course of the competition.
The first of Norse’s events, The Million Makers World Cup, will be a corporate football tournament taking place this October at the brand new ‘GOALS’ venue in Norwich. It is the only football tournament in Norfolk focused on inspiring companies to get motivated and join us in our quest to change the lives of young people. We are inviting some of the top local organisations to come along and compete in the tournament with all entry fees going to The Prince’s Trust.
The team, (pictured above) has just returned from Cambridge after pitching the Million Makers World Cup concept and business plan to a Dragon’s Den style panel, successfully securing the seed funding for the project.
The project will run for six months beginning on 1st August, with a deadline of 31st January 2012 for all monies to be raised. The team will compete against Hewlett Packard and BT Engage in the eastern region along with a range of other corporate teams across the UK, including some high profile brands such as Starbucks.
