Supplier contributing to ‘zero carbon’ school’s objectives
November 2011

Devon Norse is helping a new school meet its ‘zero carbon’ objectives, by ensuring as many as possible of its supplies are sourced locally, are environmentally friendly and are used in the most efficient manner.
The company is responsible for cleaning and catering at the new Montgomery Primary School in Exeter, which has been designed and built using Passivhaus principles and is the first ‘zero carbon’ school in the area.
Ray Beale, Managing Director at Devon Norse said, “As a company we are totally committed to using environmentally sustainable products and policies in all areas of our schools’ operations, and would like to congratulate Montgomery School on its new building’s design and low energy usage.”
“Wherever possible, all materials used in service delivery are sourced locally in order to reduce their carbon footprint, and are environmentally friendly both in use and, where necessary, in disposal.”
“In the case of cleaning materials, we ensure that they are applied with the latest and most efficient technology; and in the case of catering that meals, where the facilities are available, are cooked on the premises to preclude costs involved in reheating and are cooked, stored and presented using energy efficient appliances and processes.”
Devon Norse which took over the schools cleaning in May this year and catering in September, provides cleaning and catering at around 300 schools in and around Devon. |
