Corporate Social Responsibility
As a large employer, it is vital that we ensure we make a direct contribution to the community in which we operate. We have been a member of Business in the Community for a number of years and have developed a corporate social responsibility strategy covering a number of elements.
Over the years Norse have won a number of accolades for our commitment to CSR. As recently as 2008 we were awarded the EDP Business Award for Community Impact, BITC award for Most Innovative New Programme, and our HR Director, Tricia Fuller, was appointed the Prince of Wales’ Ambassador.

Norse supporting Norfolk’s Rising Stars
Norse is one of the three main sponsors of Norfolk County Council’s initiative to help the region’s most promising athletes and cultural stars of the future achieve their goals.
As part of the ‘Norfolk Sport and Culture Foundation funding programme, set up in 2008 to support young people between the ages of 14 and 25, Norse are sponsoring five local youngsters who are looking to break into the big time.

Thomas 'TJ' Baldwin, Alpine Racing Skier
Since receiving funding last year, TJ won 4 out of 5 British Junior (under 21) Championships and is now ranked number 1 Great Britain Junior in all disciplines - Downhill, Super G, G5, Slalom, and Super Combined. He is also ranked in the top five in all five disciplines in the Great Britain senior rankings. |

Scott Atkins, Dancer/Choreographer
Last year's funding has helped Scott to continue to grow his dance company, Passion Productions. Over the last year Scott has undertaken courses at different professional dance companies and has begun teaching at The Garage in Norwich. |

Laura McDonald, Javelin and Triple Jump
Last year's funding helped Laura take her achievements to new heights, ranked number one in Great Britain at under 15 level at both Javelin and Triple Jump. Laura took gold in both Javelin and Triple Jump in the South of England Athletic Championships - setting a new Championship record in the latter. |

Felicity Foulds, Sailing
Felicity represented Great Britain by racing optimist dinghy in European Championships back in 2006. Having moved on to topper class - she is the first girl in 30 years to feature in the top 3 in the rankings. She hit new heights last year finishing 3rd overall, and the 1st female, at the World Championships. |

Clieo Stephenson, Sprinter.
Clieo secured gold in 100m at the Aviva ESAA English Schools' Track & Field Championships, also securing a silver medal for the 4x100m relay. She is ranked 6th in the UK at 100m for her age, and 9th for 200m. She is ranked 1st in east of England for both. She moves up to under 17 level this year - where UK Athletics start to look at that grouping, with a view to their talented athlete programme. |
As part of the sponsorship, these young people will be available for some of our key events, so watch out for them and give them your support. Maybe we’ll be cheering them on at future national and international games or on top television programmes. |
